… & sensible solutions for a notoriously difficult medium ~ by Robert De Groff:

Well, I’m learning more from Roberts book. The the pole rocker jig has helped. I’m looking to see if I can use it with my 4″ rocker. Perhaps I can velcro something onto the jig which is designed for 2.5″ and 3″ rockers. We shall see… it’ll keep me busy.
So, the first small plate was prepared with a 65 tooth per inch rocker. They say to bevel the edges of the plate first to prevent damaged teeth. There was a bit of copper dust so perhaps next time a little lighter on the pressure. Oh! gloves and a mask too…
The only thing I’m thinking about is inking up and preparing a small plate to print. It may be a bit fiddly and messy. I have some plywood and card so perhaps I can put together a plate holder with some wood glue. First I’ll check the thickness of the plate as I have 1000 micron card. Perhaps I have some other thinner card somewhere too…
It’s exciting to learn a new process… I won’t forget about drypoint too ~ Tilly’s wee pal Ted, is next on the printing to-do list.
Perhaps an old picture for inspiration:
